Mejillones Cooperative, a group of 87 coffee producers, organized in the 1980s. Their families migrated to the Yungas Region from the Altiplano after extreme droughts forced them off their land. They carried with them only coffee plants and hopes of a better life. This year Mejillones is selling our importing co-op, Cooperative Coffees, 3 shipping containers full of high quality organic coffee.  We visited the farmers to get to know them a bit better and engage in open conversations about the volatile coffee market, pricing, fair trade strategies and relationship building. Mejillones produces caturra and catuaii coffee varieties.
