The Kaliluni Cooperative is located in Kathiani, Machakos county, just 79km east of Nairobi. There are 1,104 active members who are dedicated to picking only extremely ripe cherries of the highest quality. The soil in this area is volcanic, and there is good access to clean, flowing water. There is no centralized power, pulpers are run by generators and the co-op's computer is solar powered.
