About The Growers

This 37-bag micro-lot came through Kenya's famed auction system. The lot was grown and processed by farmers belonging to the Gikanda Farmers Society. This fairly large cooperative has several processing facilities where farmers bring their cherries after harvest. Farmers will use the facility that is closest to them and in this case the facility is the Kangocho Cooperative Factory, located in the heart of the Nyeri district. Roughly 900 farmers belong to this cooperative mill, with each member farming only an acre of coffee or less. Because this is such a small amount of coffee, the quality level can be extraordinary.
